How much money will I get?

You and the adults who give you pocket money probably have very different ideas about how much money you should get!

You need to negotiate.

This means talking to each other about the amount of money you want and they want to give you.
  • Prepare your facts. Know what you want to buy and how much it costs.

  • Explain how you are going to manage your money.

  • Know where you are going to keep your money.

  • If you have kept a record of your spending share this. If not, think about doing this over a month. Share this information. (link to sheet below)

  • Be prepared to accept a figure less than what you want. You can always renegotiate if you need more.

  • Show that you are spending your money on things that you need as well as things that you want. It will help if you can show that you are buying other people presents, as well as saving with your own money.
